Camille

This is Camille Cole, an incredibly talented and creative jewelry artist. I met her a couple of years ago when she attended one of my Wild Wire Women retreats at my mountain home in Idyllwild, California. Here you can see Camille in her booth at the Palm Springs street fair. Doesn't she look great... and her jewelry is divine!
The Palm Springs "villagefest" street fair is held every Thursday night along Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs (near the Art Museum, and lots of shops and restaurants). It really was a fun evening strolling up and down the streets viewing beautiful artwork and listening to local jazz bands and Peruvian instrumentalists.
I have to confess that the only item I purchased was a lovely, dense loaf of whole-grain bread from an artisan baker. But the highlight of my evening was running into Camille, who used to own a bead shop and decided that she'd like to change her life a bit and become a full-time jewelry artist. So a couple of years ago she closed her store and made arrangements to move to Belize, where she has friends who own hotels on the beach.
Once in Belize, Camille started selling her jewelry right away to local tourists through the hotels. Apparently she's been quite successful at this, and she thoroughly enjoys her time in the tropics. But she also spends some time in Palm Springs at the street fair, and told me the commute back and forth is not that difficult or expensive.
I also have an invite to join Camille in Belize someday, and you can be sure that I'll be taking her up on that!
When she first arrived for a retreat in January 2008, Camille was already an accomplished and creative jewelry artist who showed us her beautifully strung necklaces and eclectic earrings. But I like to think that she picked up a few useful wire-art jewelry skills during our retreat, and I can see that she's made great strides since then. I love her designs! It was fun to catch up with her.
