In the studio...

So here I am again, in Interweave Press's film studio in Loveland, Colorado!
I thought I'd post my photos in black and white, just for fun. Anyway, we had a terrific time shooting an hour-long video for DVD that will be enclosed in an upcoming book. I don't have any more info on that just yet, but all I can say is that it's beautifully photographed (as usual!) and you are going to love it.
Here's video studio manager Garrett Evans and producer Rachel Link, working hard on positioning my jewelry samples in just the right way for the set. They work really well together, behind the camera and throughout the set performing a variety of jobs in a very relaxed but professional manner. It's super easy working with them! We actually filmed the entire DVD within a few hours, from about 9:30 am to 12 pm. Fish tacos followed the shoot (mmmm) and then at 3 pm I returned to the studio for a brief on-camera interview with editor Tricia Waddell.
Here's my editor, Rebecca Campbell, adding her touch to the set. She spent a great deal of time in front of the computer watching the video stream while we taped, which is probably a tedious job but extremely important. If I got my hands outside the frame or made other mistakes, we relied on Rebecca to alert us and watch for continuity issues or any other problems. Although the film crew at Interweave is small, they do a professional job and I am beyond thrilled with the way they managed this production.
Here's a shot of the background set which you may not be able to see very well on the video (I haven't seen the video yet so I'm not sure how the camera was angled). Lovely... and the full-color photography in the book is outstanding.
For those of you who are wondering, the two DVDs that I have now shot for Interweave Press (click here for my previous post) are only available packaged with my books. They are not stand-alone DVDs, but they will beautifully complement my instructional books.
Happy wrapping!

In Loveland...

No picture for this post, I'm afraid, but I am in Loveland, Colorado, staying in the lovely corporate apartment held by Interweave Press. Tomorrow we will spend an entire day taping a new DVD to be included in an upcoming book, and I hope to have some pics and possibly a video to share with you by tomorrow evening.
It's very comfortable here and I look forward to working with the fun folks who run the video department. Tricia Waddell will drop by tomorrow afternoon to tape an interview with me, which should be fun. She's so much more expressive than I am, I always feel like a dud next to her! Oh well. It's sure to be interesting...
Stay tuned then for tomorrow's post. I hope all is well with you!
Happy wrapping,

Cortona, Italy workshops postponed...

I'm sorry to report that my much-anticipated workshop series to take place in Cortona, Italy this coming September has been cancelled due to low enrollment.
I know that this is very disappointing to many of you who were contemplating a wonderful trip to Italy with the current very low euro-dollar exchange, a terrific series of wire jewelry workshops, amazing cuisine, and some really fun and exciting side-trips to Orvieto, Florence, Siena, Arezzo, and more... but, the enrollment at this point is just too low, so the tour organizer and I have reluctantly decided to cancel this trip for 2010.
The good news is, we are rescheduling something similar for late-September of 2011, so if you were hoping to attend but just couldn't quite raise the funds this year, you now have a year and a half to prepare for our event in 2011. I will post dates and additional information as soon as it's available. I hope you can join me; Italy is magical, and we have the best time in small groups touring the area, eating great food, making lasting friendships, and spending quality time in the studio making beautiful jewelry.
Because we have cancelled this trip, I now have several weekends open on my calendar for additional Wild Wire Women retreats in Idyllwild, California. I have a new blog, too, devoted to these retreats. The new blog has photos and additional information, and I will be updating it with even more good stuff as soon as I get new photos taken of my spacious studio. We're putting in new windows, and I wanted to wait until they are installed (at the end of this month) before taking new photos to post on the blog.
In the meantime, there's still plenty of info and pictures to whet your appetite for jewelry making in the peaceful, beautiful mountains of Idyllwild.
Here's the link:
Here are my new retreat dates:
